Our First International Women's Day in Tallinn and Tartu
March marked a milestone we'll never forget, our very first International Women's Day celebration, and what a way to begin our journey!
We decided to honor women across both our beloved cities, organizing back-to-back events in Tallinn and Tartu that brought together hearts, cultures, and dreams.
The energy was electric from the moment our doors opened. Women from Estonia and India filled the rooms, their faces bright with curiosity and anticipation.
Our inspiring speakers included:
Dr. Venika Krishna, Counselling Psychologist and Educator
Kaja Keil, Ayurveda Lifestyle Consultant and Educator
Anne Daniel Karlsen, Child Psychiatrist and Honorary Citizen 2024
Dr. Katyayani Singh, Scientist and Research Fellow
Dr. Mithu Guha, Researcher at University of Tartu and Educator
Each shared stories that celebrated the strength and resilience of women across both cultures, weaving another thread in our growing tapestry of friendship.
Then came the performances that truly captured the magic we'd envisioned.
We were treated to beautiful Bharatnatyam performances by Jekaterina and Triinu Heinsoo, their graceful movements speaking a universal language of beauty and tradition.
But perhaps the most touching moment was when Kadri Mägi and Merike Taza led us in traditional Estonian dancing and singing – suddenly, everyone was moving together around the room in a circle of pure joy.
We were deeply honored to welcome His Excellency Ajaneesh Kumar, Ambassador of India to Estonia, and Ingvar Villido Ishwarananda Ji, Educator and Founder of Lillerou, whose presence highlighted the vital role women play in shaping our societies.
As the evening wound down, laughter filled the air during our housie (tambola) games, and we ended by cutting our inaugural cake together, officially launching IEWS with sweetness and new friendships that had blossomed throughout the day.
